Autore: Curtis Jones (18 agosto 1906 – 11 settembre 1971) è stato un pianista blues americano. [...]. Il primo album di Jones apparve nel 1960 su Bluesville , quando era già diventato un noto artista sulla scena folk di Chicago. Un album da solista fu pubblicato nel 1962, quando Jones si era trasferito in Europa. Visse lì e in Marocco per il resto della sua vita. Realizzò altri album nel Regno Unito, incluso uno nel 1968 con Alexis Korner alla chitarra. Una delle canzoni di Jones, Highway 51 Blues , è stata inclusa nell’album di debutto di Bob Dylan del 1962, Bob Dylan. [...].

Questo è stato il primo album della band a presentare Cliff Williams al basso, ed è stato anche il primo album degli AC/DC a non avere una traccia del titolo (a parte l’ album High Voltage, pubblicato solo in Australia) e il primo al mondo a non essere pubblicato con una copertina diversa. Contenuto: Flick of the Switch è il nono album in studio del gruppo musicale australiano AC/DC, pubblicato il 15 agosto 1983 dalla Atlantic Records. [...]. Nonostante i grandi successi ottenuti gli anni precedenti, Angus e Malcolm Young decisero di dare una sferzata alla situazione che si era creata; licenziarono praticamente quasi tutto lo staff, il manager e il produttore Robert John Mutt Lange a cui era imputato il cambio del sound ed un leggero ammorbidimento del suono. L’album è stato inoltre l’ultimo registrato con il batterista Phil Rudd, il quale lasciò la formazione e fu rimpiazzato da Simon Wright. Rudd si sarebbe riunito agli AC/DC nel 1994 per registrare l’album Ballbreaker. Decisero di autoprodurre l’album, il risultato fu un parziale insuccesso: infatti l’album fu distribuito peggio rispetto agli album precedenti e non ottenne il successo che forse meritava. Inoltre durante il tour che seguì l’uscita dell’album non furono incluse tracce attese come Bedlam in Belgium.

Contenuto: Cultösaurus Erectus è il settimo album in studio del gruppo rock statunitense Blue Öyster Cult, pubblicato nel giugno 1980. Dopo un esperimento con un sound più commerciale sull’album Mirrors (pubblicato l’anno precedente), questa registrazione segnò un ritorno al sound più pesante della band. Rappresenta anche la prima collaborazione della band con il produttore britannico Martin Birch (Deep Purple, Fleetwood Mac, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden), che avrebbe anche prodotto il successivo album della band, Fire of Unknown Origin, un anno dopo. Sebbene l’album vendesse più del suo predecessore, rimase bloccato al disco d’oro. Tuttavia, in quel periodo, i Blue Öyster Cult continuavano a riempire grandi arene. Il tour promozionale di Cultösaurus Erectus vide la band esibirsi insieme ai Black Sabbath negli stadi degli Stati Uniti, nell’ambito del Black and Blue Tour.

Contenuto: The Deed Is Done è il sesto album in studio del gruppo rock statunitense Molly Hatchet. È stato pubblicato nel 1984 tramite la Epic Records. Questo è il primo album dei Molly Hatchet con solo due chitarristi, dopo che Steve Holland era stato sostituito dall’ex tastierista della Danny Joe Brown Band John Galvin e dal ritorno del batterista Bruce Crump. È stato anche l’ultimo album della band per 21 anni a presentare il chitarrista di lunga data Dave Hlubek. Il suono dell’album è abbastanza diverso dal southern rock delle precedenti offerte della band, completando la transizione verso un hard rock più commerciale e FM-friendly. Autore: La band Molly Hatchet si forma nel 1971 - a Jacksonville, Florida, USA - per iniziativa di due chitarristi, Dave Hlubek e Steve Holland, a cui si aggiungono successivamente Duane Roland alla chitarra, Banner Thomas al basso e nel 1975 Bruce Crump alla batteria e Danny Joe Brown alla voce. Nel 1977 firmano il loro primo contratto discografico con la Epic e l’anno successivo pubblicano il primo album: Molly Hatchet. Il produttore è Tom Werman che in precedenza aveva già lavorato con artisti del calibro dei Cheap Trick e Ted Nugent. In breve tempo i Molly Hatchet raggiungono una discreta fama. Flirtin’ with Disaster del 1979 vende un milione e mezzo di copie. I Successivi Beatin’ the Odds del 1980 e Take No Prisoners del 1981 (entrambi con il nuovo cantante Jimmy Farrar) ottengono buone posizioni nella classifica USA. Durante gli anni ottanta vengono prodotti gli album No Guts...No Glory (con il ritorno di Danny Joe Brown alla voce e l’innesto di Riff West al basso e John Galvin alle tastiere), The Deed Is Done, Double Trouble Live e Lightning Strikes Twice che vede la sostituzione di Dave Hlubek con Bobby Ingram (già nella Danny Joe Brown Band). Contenuto: Pubblicato nei primi anni ’90, Concert for the Comet Kohoutek cattura una serata tipicamente ispirata da Sun Ra e dall’Intergalactic Space Research Arkestra. Registrato alla fine del 1973, in questa data l’Arkestra è guidata da un tema musicale composto attorno all’idea della cometa Kohoutek, che in quel momento stava passando vicino alla Terra. Tipicamente, l’album oscilla tra brani vocali cosmici che parlano di Verità e altre storie sfacciatamente capitalizzate (come Astro Black), arrangiamenti jazz da big band quasi schietti (Variations of Kohoutek Themes) ed esplorazioni libere e spaventosamente malvagie (Journey Through the Outer Darkness). - Jesse Jarnow, AMG Rimasterizzato digitalmente da Joe Phillips con brevi note di copertina del fondatore dell’etichetta ESP Bernard Stollman. Autore: John Prine (Maywood, 10 ottobre 1946 – Nashville, 7 aprile 2020) è stato un cantautore statunitense di genere country e folk. Nato e cresciuto nell’Illinois da genitori di origine rurale del Kentucky, dopo una parentesi in Germania come soldato si trasferì a Chicago. Dopo anni di gavetta divenne noto nella scena folk locale; fu scoperto nel 1971 da Kris Kristofferson che gli procurò un contratto con la Atlantic Records con cui pubblicò tre album. Successivamente passò alla Asylum Records per altri tre album. Fondò quindi una propria etichetta, la Oh Boy Records, con cui fece uscire i propri lavori successivi. [...].
