The Blue Planet is a British nature documentary series created and produced by the BBC. It premiered on 12 September 2001 in the United Kingdom. It is narrated by David Attenborough.

Described as the first ever comprehensive series on the natural history of the world’s oceans, each of the eight 50-minute episodes examines a different aspect of marine life. The underwater photography included creatures and behaviour that had previously never been filmed.

The series won a number of Emmy and BAFTA TV awards for its music and cinematography. The executive producer was Alastair Fothergill and the music was composed by George Fenton. Attenborough narrated this series before presenting the next in his ’Life’ series of programmes, The Life of Mammals (2002), and the same production team created Planet Earth (2006).

In 1959, following the flop of the theatrical musical Funny Boy (based on William Shakespeare’s Hamlet) (Opening Night), the show’s washed-up producer, Max Bialystock, hires the neurotic Leo Bloom as his accountant. While studying Max’s books, Leo notes that as a flop is expected to lose money, the IRS will not investigate the finances of failed productions. Leo jests that by selling an excess of shares and embezzling the funds, a flop could generate up to $2 million. Max asks for Leo’s help with the scheme, only for the latter to refuse (We Can Do It).
Returning to his old accounting firm, Leo starts fantasizing about being a Broadway producer (I Wanna Be a Producer). Leo quits his job and forms Bialystock & Bloom with Max. Searching for the worst play ever written, the duo finds Springtime for Hitler, a musical written by an ex-Nazi named Franz Liebkind. Max and Leo, in order to acquire Franz’s rights to the musical, perform Hitler’s favorite song and swear the sacred Siegfried Oath to him (Der Guten Tag Hop-Clop)...

In 1720, while sailing to Port Royal, Jamaica, aboard HMS Dauntless, Governor Weatherby Swann’s crew encounters a shipwreck and recovers a boy, Will Turner. Swann’s daughter, Elizabeth, discovers a golden pirate medallion around Will’s neck, and takes it. Eight years later, Captain James Norrington is promoted to commodore and proposes to Elizabeth. Her corset makes her faint and fall into the sea, causing the medallion to emit a pulse. Captain Jack Sparrow, having just arrived in Port Royal to commandeer a ship, rescues Elizabeth. Norrington identifies Jack as a pirate, and a chase ensues. Jack encounters Will, now a blacksmith. They duel, and Jack is imprisoned.
That night, the crew of the Black Pearl attacks Port Royal, searching for the medallion. The pirates capture Elizabeth, taking her to meet Captain Barbossa. Elizabeth claims her last name is Turner, to conceal her identity as the governor’s daughter. Barbossa explains that the medallion is the last of 882 gold pieces his crew took from a lost treasure of Hernán Cortés on Isla de Muerta. Cortés had accepted the treasure as payment to prevent the Fall of Tenochtitlan, but did not fulfill his part of the bargain. The Aztec gods cursed the treasure; Barbossa and any members of his crew who took the coins were cursed by extension, and became immortals whose true, skeletal forms are revealed in moonlight. To lift the curse, they must return the treasure, each coin stained with the either its taker’s blood or the blood of the taker’s direct relative. Assuming Elizabeth is the daughter of Bill Turner (Will’s father, whom Barbossa tried to drown after discovering he sent the medallion to his child)[a], Barbossa decides to use her blood on the medallion...
